"We're extremely pleased to have Pat join us as our new CEO. His experience and team building approach will serve us well," said board chair Murray Hill.
Pat Lee has been executive director of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre in Charlottetown since October 2003, and the Hillsborough Psychiatric Hospital since July. Prior to this, he held various vice-president portfolios, including professional and clinical services, operations and support, and mental health at the IWK Health Centre. He has also held senior administration positions at Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, North Bay Psychiatric Hospital and the Ontario Ministry of Health.
Mr. Lee has a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick, a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa, and is a certified health executive with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives since 1995.
He is the recipient of numerous professional awards including the 2005 Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, an honorary life membership with the IWK Health Centre board of directors, and was the co-recipient of an Ontario Ministry Health Innovators Award.
In 2004, Pat Lee served as chair of the team for Nova Scotia Department of Health's Creutzfeldt - Jakob disease (CJD) review. He has held other leadership roles on provincial committees and task groups.
Mr. Lee will begin his new role with the health authority in late January.
"Over the past several months we've been extremely fortunate to have the support of the Guysborough Antigonish Strait Health Authority's (GASHA) board and have GASHA's CEO Kevin MacDonald serve as our interim CEO during our search process," said Mr. Hill. "Kevin has done a remarkable job for us and we are indebted to him for the guidance and commitment he brought to this temporary role."
The Pictou County Health Authority is responsible for delivering health care services to Pictou County as well as regional programs to northeastern Nova Scotia through the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital in Pictou, Addiction Services, Mental Health Services, Primary Health Care and Public Health
